Increasing range by avoiding cruise control

I'll just start by pointing out that there is no suitable category or topic to select from the limited "Category" and "Topic" options presented here for a new topic, and the 3 options of Question, Problem and Idea further limit the options, so this has gone in as an Idea, but the category of EV charging and Topic of General Charging are not appropriate. Perhaps NRMA can sort this out to provide a better range with more relevant categories and options?

Some time ago I discovered that with my LDV eDeliver7 van when using cruise control, battery charging via regeneration does not function- controlling speed on downhill sections not requiring accelerator use is actually using the disc brakes to modulate speed. I'm not sure why this is the case, as it decreases available range, and would appear to be an oversight in the vehicle software. I know LDV is not alone in this issue, as at least some MG models behave the same.

Do any other brands/models suffer from this issue? You need to keep an eye on the power meter when going down a steep hill with cruise control running- if the power meter doesn't go negative, ie regenerative braking, then the car's mechanical brakes are being used.
