Community guidelines

Welcome to our online EV community. This forum is hosted by the NRMA and aims to provide a space where Members can connect with their communities as we journey towards a more sustainable future in mobility. In this space, we encourage open discussion and knowledge sharing, which we will support through curated content, moderation and advice. To ensure this community remains an active and helpful environment, here are some house rules to guide us all.

Setting up your account
Let’s start things off on the right foot. We will not approve any usernames that could offend or insult others. We’ll also remove or edit any usernames that contain NRMA or it’s subsidiaries, including the usage of imagery or branding. Accounts that have been created that purposely misrepresent any brand will also be removed.

Ask questions
There are no silly questions. This community exists to help everyone learn, so please ask away! We’re all on this journey together.

Be respectful
This forum was designed to build a positive and thriving EV community, where knowledge is shared to help provide a greater understanding of all things electric. Positive, constructive comments will help to maintain a positive spirit in the community. We’re not always going to share the same views, but we can always afford to provide the same consideration and tolerance that we’d expect to receive from others.

Be relevant
Make sure your contributions are relevant to electric vehicles and related topics. Posts will be removed that aren’t relevant to the community, the topic at hand, or to other people’s comments. Please don’t post duplicate messages in different areas of the community. If you have a new question, start a new thread rather than interrupting a conversation. Solicitations of any kind are not considered relevant to this forum.

Community moderation
A team of moderators have been entrusted with the ability to intervene when our community guidelines have been breached. They will moderate the community from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Please be aware that due to the dynamic nature and sheer volume of posts, it might take our moderators a little while to read everything that is written. Therefore, we thank you for helping us to maintain a friendly environment in our online EV community.

When we’ll moderate
The goal of our online community is to engage with you, Members and our wider community, providing the latest information and a space for our users to ask questions and share knowledge. While we welcome all opinions and healthy debates, we will remove and if necessary report posts containing:

  • Offensive or violent language.
  • Hateful or discriminatory comments.
  • Links or comments containing sexually explicit content material.
  • Violations of copyright or intellectual property rights.
  • Spam, link baiting or files containing viruses that could damage the operation of other users’ computers or mobile devices.
  • Attacks on specific groups or any comments meant to harass, threaten or abuse an individual.
  • Commercial solicitations, including surveys or competitions or the promotion of a competitor.
  • Trolling posts or deliberately disruptive conversations.
  • Inaccurate or misleading statements about the NRMA, its products and its people.
  • Attempting to buy, sell or trade items, including vehicle sales.
  • Legal or financial advice, including car loans.

We maintain the right to remove posts or threads that do not meet our community guidelines. Anyone who chooses to repeatedly break these house rules will be banned from the community.

NRMA employees and moderators
In the spirit of transparency, all NRMA or associated Group employees will be identifiable on their profiles.

Approval of posts
Don’t worry if you can’t see your post immediately after publishing. All posts need to be approved by a moderator first. If there’s an issue or your post hasn’t been approved, we’ll always let you know why.

Don’t share your personal information
Keep in mind that this community is a public forum and as such, you should only share information that you want the general public to see. Please don't share your personal information, unless sent via private message to our moderators, who may from time-to-time request information including your Membership number, phone number or email address.

Repurposing of content on other NRMA channels
By posting on this forum, you grant the NRMA permission to use any content you contribute without any legal or monetary obligation to the author.

We’re here to help
If you recognise a violation of these guidelines, please let us know why you feel the content is inappropriate by creating a message within the community and heading to Report Inappropriate Content in the Options menu.

We’re here to listen and make continuous improvements to this community. All issues and suggestions raised by our contributors will receive a response and any ideas will be included in our policy discussions.
